The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has announced an updated operating schedule for the William G. Stratton-Thomas A. Bolger Lock and Dam facility on the Fox River.
The lock will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays to facilitate ongoing construction at the facility through the end of the season, according to IDNR.
The lock will be open on Labor Day, which is Monday, Sept. 2 and Columbus Day, which is Monday, Oct. 14, according to IDNR.
IDNR officials will operate the lock from 8 a.m. to midnight Wednesdays through Sundays through September, according to IDNR.
In October, IDNR will operate the lock
8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, according to IDNR.
The facility is closed annually from Nov. 1 to April 30.
Stratton Lock and Dam serves as the passageway between the Fox Chain of Lakes in northern Illinois and the Fox River.
