Wonder Lake man faces child sex assault, abuse charges dating back to 2015

Police arrest man they say abused juvenile girl for years

Joshua R. Kreger

A Wonder Lake man accused of sexually assaulting a girl over the course of two years is scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday in McHenry County court.

Joshua R. Kreger, 33, of the 9000 block of Oriole Trail remained at the county jail Monday afternoon on a $500,000. He faces multiple counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child – a Class X felony typically punishable by six to 30 years in prison. If Kreger were to be convicted of more than one count, he would be required to serve consecutive sentences for each offense.

Police arrested Kreger on Sunday and brought him to the McHenry County Jail.

The allegations were brought to light when the girl disclosed the alleged abuse to an adult household member, according to an order of protection the girl’s mother filed Monday.

Kreger is charged with sexually assaulting the girl on 10 occasions between Feb. 1, 2016, and Feb. 1, 2018, public records show.

He’s additionally charged with a single count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor stemming from December 2015.

At a brief court appearance Monday morning, Judge Tiffany Davis appointed the public defender’s office to Kreger’s case.
