The St. Mary Immaculate Parish School traditional first day of school opening prayer and flag raising ceremony was held August 16.
The entire student body, faculty, and staff, along with parents and families, gathered outdoors at the flag post in the front of the school building.
John Garvey, principal, and Jennifer Errthum, assistant principal, were joined by Rev. John Reagan, in offering prayers and remarks.
Blessings were given for the teachers, the students and the parents.
After reciting The Pledge of Allegiance, students returned to their classrooms. Parents enjoyed coffee, juices and breakfast snacks in the commons sponsored by the Home and School Association.
