Marmion Academy and Rosary High School recognized for making a difference

Students from Marmion Academy and Rosary High School were recognized on Aug. 19 during the “Those Who Make A Difference” segment of the West Aurora School District 129’s Board of Education Meeting.

According to a news release, the students were honored for their participation in “Crayons for Kids,” a school supply drive organized by both high schools that annually benefits local school children in need at over 75 area schools and organizations. District 129 recently held a “Back to School Bash” and distributed school supply packets to families in attendance – much of the supplies in the packets came from “Crayons for Kids.”

The students in attendance at the meeting were honored with a “Making a Difference” certificate from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Craig and Director of Community Affairs Anna Gonzales. They were some of the main student leaders of this year’s project and represented the 150+ Marmion and Rosary students, faculty, staff, and parents who volunteer annually to make “Crayons for Kids” a huge success.

Accepting awards on behalf of “Crayons for Kids” were Marmion students Andrew Auchstetter of Batavia, Jack Burke of Batavia, Robbie Dzierzanowski of West Chicago, Josh Harris of Montgomery, and Wyatt Holtan of Aurora; and Rosary students Ashley Auchstetter of Batavia, Mirari Cardenas of West Chicago, and Gracie Di Iorio of St. Charles.
