A woman charged with causing a fatal accident Tuesday evening, then fleeing the scene and not calling for help bonded out of jail Thursday.
Carolyn A. Tyrrell, 53, was given a $100,000 bond Thursday morning of which she would have had to post $10,000.
She is due in a felony courtroom 9 a.m. Sept. 26 for status and to secure counsel. In rights court Thursday morning, she was appointed an assistant public defender for bail determination only.
George Klinger, 53, of Algonquin died in the crash, according to interim McHenry County Coroner John Miller. An autopsy performed Thursday morning showed Klinger died from blunt force trauma to the head. Pathology and toxicology results are pending, Miller said.
A female victim who suffered serious injuries in the crash was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Evidence recovered at the scene led to Tyrrell's arrest, according to a news release the Crystal Lake Police Department sent Wednesday morning.
Crystal Lake Police Chief James Black said Tyrrell's bumper, with the license plate attached, was found blocks away from the crash, which led officers to her home, where she was arrested within a half hour of the crash.
Police responded to the intersection about 7:37 p.m. for a reported crash with injuries, where responders identified Klinger and the female victim who had been thrown from the motorcycle they were riding, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake police.
Klinger, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital where he later died.
A preliminary investigation determined that the motorcycle had been traveling south on Virginia Road when it was struck at the Berkshire Drive intersection by a red sedan, which fled the scene traveling west.
Tyrrell was arrested and charged for leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, a Class 1 felony. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges against Tyrrell are expected.
Crystal Lake's Accident Investigation Team examined the scene and collected evidence while the roadway was closed.
