Joliet Rotary fundraiser benefits community

The Rotary Club of Joliet presented a check for $30,000 to the Spanish Community Center on September 17, at their weekly lunch meeting.

The Spanish Center was chosen by Club members from a total of thirteen organizations that applied. The funds were raised through proceeds from the Club's the annual raffle in 2018.

Tickets for the raffle cost $100 each and a maximum of 750 tickets are sold each year.

The raffle awards a $10,000 grand prize, five prizes of $1,000, and two prizes of $500. The remaining funds generated from the raffle are given to a local non-profit for a major project.

In recent years, Joliet Rotary gave $28,500 to Senior Services of Will County for the Senior Express transportation project, $14,664 to the Greater Joliet Area YMCA for ADA pool lifts, and $11,403 to the Werden Buck Boys and Girls Club for rubberized staircases.

Raffle funds have been used to fund community projects since 1984. The 2019 raffle is happening right now.
