Susan Lohr

Susan Jean Lohr, 71, of Wenona passed away Oct. 3, 2019, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Hurst Funeral Home, Wenona followed by a visitation 6-8 p.m.

Susan was born July 6, 1948, in Algona, Iowa to John and Jean (Bailey) Whit-aker. She married her high school sweetheart Charles Lohr on Friday, Jan. 7, 1966. They were married for 53 years.

Susan worked at Oak State for 35 years where she formed many long-lasting and devoted friendships. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved bowling with her friends and was an avid Fieldcrest and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a silent force who was by your side in a moment’s notice and a true role model for her daughters and granddaughters. She was never without a good book on her Kindle and her family on her mind.

She is survived by her husband (Charles) of Wenona; and her daughters, Cathy (Jeff) Pickard, Beth (Ralph) Sprake-Jones and Angela (Tom Brisbois) Lohr. She had 10 grandchildren, Jacob Pickard, Taylor Pickard, John Pickard, Emma (Kory) Cantlin, Gwenyth Lohr-Fandel, Elisabeth Morris, Levi Brisbois, Ethan Sprake-Jones, Reegan Sprake-Jones and Rowan Sprake-Jones. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Ashton Kuykendall, Salem McGoey-Pickard and Penelope McGoey-Pickard.

She is loved dearly by her surviving family Sydney (Rich) Petro, William Whitaker, Maribeth (Mike) Durham, Randy (Marlene) Lohr, Chris Lohr and Cary Lohr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barb Johnston; brother, Charlie Whitaker; brother, Robin “Bun” Whitaker; mother-in-law, Gloria Lohr; father-in-law, John Lohr; and sister-in-law, April Lohr.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the people who have reached out to feed them and share stories about Susan. Your love and support will never be forgotten.
