Why Witte was selected

Witte returned from a car crash that sidelined her all season, serving and playing the back row for the Timberwolves in a senior night win against Hinckley-Big Rock, recording four aces. She beat DeKalb golfer Allison Yohanan, DeKalb-Sycamore swimmer Elizabeth White.

• On what it was like returning for senior night

"It was really exciting to finally play on my home court after having that injury in July and having to sit out the whole season. I love everything about volleyball and to be a part of senior night on our last home game as a Timberwolf was great."

• On her road back from the car crash

"I broke my femur and I've been work hard in physical therapy. I was cleared to play back row and serve. It depends on how it porgresses but hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to do what I did before."

• On the team heading into the playoffs

"I really feel like our team has started to develop more and more. Everyone gets along and is working hard together. It's showing on and off the court.

Why Woodbury was selected

Woodbury's first goal of the season came at an opportune time, tying Genoa-Kingston in the closing minutes of a regional final the Timberwolves would go on to win, the first regional title in school history. He beat DeKalb golfer Jack Paeglow, Sycamore football player Manny Dominguez and Kaneland cross country runner Austin Adams.

• On what it was like scoring a goal in that situation, coming in as a yellow card replacement for Brennan McNally

"That was honestly super cool and being the championship game for regionals made it even better. Brennan is a great player, but he got that yellow card and for me to go in for him in that situation and get the goal was really cool."

• On being a regional champ

"To be the first team to win a regional final match, that's really cool. Especially since it's the first time and I'm just a sophomore, plus getting th goal for the first time, it was just super cool and a great opportunity for me."

• On how the season as a whole went – the Timberwolves lost to Richmod-Burton in a sectional semifinal

"Overall for our team it was pretty good. We won a lot of matches and I really do like that. He had some down games like every team hasBut overall it went really well. Next year we have the same team so hopefully we're even better.
