Union School District 81 announced it will reimburse homeowners a portion of their property taxes for the fourth straight year.
“We are pleased to be able to reimburse homeowners a substantial portion of the property taxes they paid to the school district,” Superintendent Tim Baldermann said in a news release. “Although we are not legally required to do so, we believe this money should be returned to the taxpayers. Additionally, our families pay no registration fees, we provided one-to-one technology for our students, and they all receive free breakfast and lunch.”
The district has also received the highest financial rating possible in the state for the sixth straight year, according to the release. The district saw an unexpected surplus after receiving additional funding and having expenditures cost less than anticipated.
