High school girls swimming: Huntley wins first FVC Invitational championship

The Huntley girls swimming team won the Fox Valley Conference Invitational title for the first time in program history, and Huntley's Sydney McGuine and Ella Young and Jacobs' Jenny Tokarz shared the Most Valuable Swimmer honor at Woodstock North.

Huntley placed first with 270 points, Jacobs co-op was runner-up with 199 points, and Crystal Lake co-op (198) was third. Jacobs co-op had won the previous two FVC Invitational titles. Cary-Grove (176) was fourth, followed by Woodstock co-op (163), McHenry (124) and Dundee-Crown (82).

McGuine placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.90) and 100 backstroke (58.91), and Young was first in the 200 individual medley (2:10.13) and 100 butterfly (57.96).

McGuine, Raquel Salinas, Young and Ashley Garrard took first in the 200 medley relay (1:51.40) for the Red Raiders. Salinas, Abigail DeVries, Young and McGuine were first in the 400 free relay (3:42.29).

Tokarz finished first in the 200 free (1:55.25) and 500 free (5:08.66). Jacobs co-op's Kate Trembly, Olivia Johnson, Julia Koltuniuk and Tokarz were first in the 200 free relay (1:42.57).

Dundee-Crown's Ali Fitzgerald was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.98) and named Newcomer of the Year. C-G's Emily Marks won the 100 free (54.86).
