Ronald Ray Zellmer, 72, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Illinois and California, died Oct. 27, 2019, at home.
Ron was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Spring Valley to Walter and Elaine (Gillette) Zellmer. He was raised in Granville and graduated from Putnam County High School. Ron entered the U.S. Army in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1968. On Sept. 30, 1967,
Ron was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Panier at First Lutheran Church in Granville. The couple lived many places and made many friends. They retired to Peoria, Ariz., in 2008. Ron enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends playing cards, fishing and golfing.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joyce of Peoria, Ariz.; his daughter, Krista (Mark) Platte of Waverly, Iowa; his son, Eric (Leigh) Zellmer of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; grandchildren Nathan and Kelsey Platte of Waverly, and Easton Zellmer of Trabuco Canyon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenton.
Burial will be Nov. 29 at the national veterans cemetery (National Memorial Cemetery) in Phoenix, and a Celebration of Life will be Nov. 30 at Peace Lutheran Church, Peoria, Ariz.
