Organization that serves veterans in Will, Grundy counties receives donation

COUNTRY Financial Agent Dave Scoggin is pleased to announce Our Patriots as a 2019 recipient of a $1,500 COUNTRY Financial Operation Helping Heroes Donation.

Scoggin recently presented the donation to Ken Buck, treasurer of Our Patriots, to assist the organization with funding for veterans to meet their unmet needs.

Our Patriots is a regional organization that supports veterans in Grundy, Will, Kankakee and LaSalle counties by working with the Veterans Assistance Commissions in each county.

Buck is also the director at the Grundy County Veterans Assistance Commission.

“Veterans work with their county VAC’s to make sure that the veteran gets all the assistance from state and federal programs," Buck said in a news release from COUNTRY Financial.

"Our Patriots strives to help veterans with their unmet needs. This can be anything from homeless prevention, utility assistance, home maintainence to assistance with vehicle repairs,” Buck said in a news release.

Our Patriots is a non-profit organization with no professional staff. Donations go to assisting veterans.

According to its website, the Grundy County Veterans Assistance Commission is an independent county commission that is operated by and for veterans for the purpose of promoting the welfare of honorably discharged veterans of military service and their families; to act as a central service office for all veteran organizations and to assist with all VA claims work referred to the commission by member organizations and the community; and to have general oversight of the distribution of all relief and supplies that may be appropriated for the benefit of military veterans and their families.
