Why Vaughn was selected:
The sophomore running back rushed for 366 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries to help the Celtics capture a 61-37 home victory over Crete-Monee in a Class 6A playoff game.
Vaughn talked with Herald-News sportswriter Curt Herron. Below is an edited transcript.
Herron: What did you like about your performance?
Vaughn: I felt it was a real good performance, especially since it was against Crete-Monee. We knew that we could run the ball on them all game, so we just needed our linemen to perform, which they did like they do every week.
Herron: What do like most about your team?
Vaughn: The brotherhood and how we come out here every day and give everything we've got. It's like a second home.
Herron: What do like most about competing for Providence Catholic?
Vaughn: They play the best competition so you get to see just how good you actually are.
Herron: What do you like most about football?
Vaughn: I just like the hits and I love contact. I've always loved football and it motivates me to keep going and keep fighting.
Herron: Who are your biggest influences?
Vaughn: Number one has to be God because without him, I couldn't do any of this. Second is my dad, Aaron, since I see him working all of the time and he works hard and he's always been here for me. And my family has helped me to get here.
Herron: What's your favorite music and performers?
Vaughn: Hip hop or rap. NLE Choppa and Drake.
Herron: What's your favorite TV show and movie?
Vaughn: Stranger Things. The Longest Yard.
Herron: Who's someone that you would like to meet?
Vaughn: Saquon Barkley.
Herron: What do want to do in your future?
Vaughn: Play in the NFL. Or be a sports trainer or coach.
Herron: What's your favorite food and a place to eat?
Vaughn: Mozzarella sticks. Portillo's.
Herron: Who's your favorite sports team?
Vaughn: Minnesota Vikings.
Herron: Where's the best place that you've visited and where would you like to visit?
Vaughn: Florida. California.
Herron: Do you have any pets?
Vaughn: I have a shih tzu named Blue.

Vaughn: English.
