James ‘Jim’ W. Dillon

STERLING – James “Jim” W. Dillon, 88, of Sterling, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Morningside of Sterling.

James was born on August 12, 1931, in Decatur, IL, the son of Roy R. and V. Ruth (Bennett) Dillon. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. Jim married Diane Johnson on May 8, 1955, in Nachusa, IL. He worked for Commonwealth Edison for over 30 years. Jim was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, playing cards and most of all, spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Diane; three children, Steve (Tina) Dillon of Rock Falls, Jill Dillon Massey of Rock Falls and Scott (Lynn) Dillon of Normal, IL; six grandchildren, Tasha (Tim) Dowd, Ross (Megan) Dillon, Kelsey Herren, Nick Massey, Sydney Dillon and Cole Dillon; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Dean and Ben Dillon.

Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harvest Time Bible Church or Happy Tails in Rock Falls.
