William J. ‘John’ Henry

DIXON – William J. “John” Henry, age 53, of Dixon died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling after a 3 year battle with cancer.

John was a volunteer participant in the University of Wisconsin Oncology research program. He was born on March 25, 1966 in Sterling, IL the son of James and Sherry (Cramberg) Henry. He was a graduate of Sterling High School class of 1984, attended Aurora University on a baseball scholarship and graduated from MIT in Morrison. John was a land surveyor and worked for Willett Hofmann and Assoc. in Dixon for 30 years. He was an avid softball player, golfer, and loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. John married Helen Corken Oct. 27, 2001 in Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Janelle Henry of Colorado, Rachel Henry of Oak Forest, IL, and Cody (Ashley Tomford) Hawkins of River Falls, WI.; stepmother, Connie Henry of Sterling; brothers, Jim (Marilyn) Henry of Sterling and Patrick (Lisa) Henry of Porter, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of cremains will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery.

A celebration of life will also be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
