John Stanley Kowalski, 70, of Spring Valley died at home Nov. 20, 2019.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be 10:30 a.m.-noon Nov. 30 in Hurst Funeral Home, La Salle. A celebration of life will be at noon in the funeral home with a luncheon to follow. Private burial will be at a later date.
John was born May 17, 1949, in La Salle to Stanley A. and Helen (Schepp) Kowalski. He was retired from Bureau County Housing Authority as a maintenance manager. He was a member of Better Fishing Association of Northern Illinois. John had a love of fishing, hunting, camping and weekly card games with friends.
John is survived by two sons, John James (Amy) Kowalski of Peru and Dustin James (Christine) Kowalski of Compton; eight grandchildren, Dakota “Kody” of Chandler, Ariz., Kalee of Bloomington, Kage of Chandler, Ariz., Klayton of Peru, Keeton of Peru, Keya of Peru, Brianna of Compton and Alex of Compton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Darlene “Dolly” Meyer; and one niece, Jill (Meyer) Gaughan.
