Lauren Moeller, 18, of Rock Falls is Rock Falls High School's October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Matt and Christa Moeller, and she has a brother, Nolan.

Favorite class: Spanish, because I love learning a different language. It's so much fun to hear something on the radio or watch something on television and have somewhat of an understanding.

Least-favorite class: Biology, because I'm not a huge science person, and I didn't really understand the importance of learning about juncos and their habits my freshman year.

Favorite teacher: Lucas "Señor" Madding, because he makes his class feel like we aren't in a school setting anymore. Plus, I've never met someone with so much energy at 1:45 in the afternoon.

Is there a class that you wish your school would offer? I wish Rock Falls had Italian as a foreign language, because someday I hope to travel to Italy. I would love to travel to Venice, because I think it would be so cool to travel around the beautiful city in a gondola.

School activities in which you participate: Swimming, track and field, Junior Optimist, National Honor Society, class officers, Whiteside Area Career Center's CEO class my junior year, and Building Lasting Impressions that Never Die.

Civic, church, or other volunteer activities in which you participate: I attend the Rock Falls United Methodist Church, where I serve as a youth representative in the church council.

Do you have a job? I work at Culver's in Rock Falls, and I absolutely love working there. Everyone I work with is super nice, and I love making people smile.

How would you describe your group of friends? We are a fun group with many different personalities. There are always plenty of laughs, and I can always count on them to be there for me.

What are your plans after high school? I will attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where I plan to major in marketing and will be continuing my swim career as a Saluki. Go Dawgs!

What's one thing you learned in high school that you will never use? Stoichiometry. I'm sorry, Tiffany Purdy, but I don't think that it will ever come up in my day-to-day life.

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? I would add a Starbucks in the cafeteria. I know plenty of people who would appreciate this, including me.

What does it take to be a successful high school student? Having good time management and the will to learn can make all the difference.

What do you do in your free time? I love to spend time with my friends, watch movies, bake cookies and ride my bike.

What's one thing in your life you can't do without? I absolutely cannot live without my pillow. I take it wherever I go, even if it means that I have to sit on my suitcase in order for it to close.

What kind of music do you listen to? I'll listen to any kind of music besides for country and scary heavy metal.

Does anything scare you? I'm absolutely terrified of snakes.

If you could try any job for the day, what would it be? I would love to be an actress on "This is Us" and play the role of Kevin's girlfriend.

What is your favorite childhood memory? When I turned 5, my parents got me a Disney princess car and I loved making my dog ride around in my yard with me.

What is the best way to cheer you up? Just make me laugh, it doesn't matter how. If that doesn't work, throw in a movie and give me a tub of ice cream.

What is your favorite ...
