Sugar Grove Corn Boil is a 'go' for 2020

Popular summer event will return, but more volunteers still needed

SUGAR GROVE – The Sugar Grove Corn Boil will be happening in 2020, after its status was in jeopardy due to a decrease in sponsors and funding.

Earlier this fall, the committee warned that if more people don't volunteer to help get more of the sponsorships that fund the festival, it would have to be canceled for next year.

Jackie Link, president of the Sugar Grove Corn Boil, said in a text message that the November meeting was "productive," and that the decision was made to proceed with the event.

"We are still in need of many volunteers. The event will feature some new things but I don't want to elaborate on that yet," she said.

She explained that they did have some new volunteers who came forward at last month's meeting, and that she was encouraged with their ideas.

"Our goals are still out there for sponsorship, but we feel very confident that the event will happen," she said.

Link is hopeful that even more people will volunteer at the next meeting, which is in January at the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District. Those interested in helping can contact the organizing committee at the Sugar Grove Corn Boil Facebook page.
