High school sports roundup for Friday, Dec. 6

Crystal Lake South's Kyra Swartz, Emily Rich and Ava Sevcik chipped in 11 points apiece to lead the Gators past Hampshire, 58-51, in their Fox Valley Conference game Friday in Hampshire.

The Gators (3-3, 2-0 FVC) held the Whip-Purs (4-3, 1-1) to three points in the third quarter and took a 41-28 lead going into the fourth. Kelby Bannerman had 12 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth as Hampshire mounted a comeback with 23 points in the final eight minutes.

Sevcik made three 3-pointers and was one of four Gators to score in double figures. Allie Schoen tossed in 10 points, Gaby Trier scored eight and Brooke Kuffell had seven. Katie Del Re had 12 points for Hampshire.

Marengo 59, Johnsburg 49: At Marengo, Jennifer Heinberg had 24 points and four 3-pointers in the Kishwaukee River Conference win for the Indians (6-2, 1-0). Heinberg made all six of her free throws.

Jordan Parker had 13 points, and Lilly Johnson tossed in 10 and three 3s. Sarah Metze had 12 points on four 3s to lead Johnsburg (2-4, 0-1). Molly Wetzel added 11 points, Macy Madsen had 10 and Kaitlyn Owen had nine.

McHenry 60, Jacobs 50: At Algonquin, Katie Beyer had 24 points and 16 rebounds in the FVC win for the Warriors (5-1, 1-1). Beyer scored 11 of her game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter. She was 7 of 10 from the free-throw line. Ava Interrante tossed in 13 points and three 3s for McHenry, and Ashley Wachter had 12 points.

Liz Schwartz had 16 points and two 3s to pace the Golden Eagles (2-4, 1-1). Mackenzie Leahy had 12 points, Courtney Pahl had 10 points and two 3s, and Courtney Durben had six points on two 3s.

Burlington Central 53, Crystal Lake Central 29: At Crystal Lake, Nora Ryan scored 12 points for the Tigers (0-7, 0-2) in the FVC loss. Paige Keller scored eight. Burlington (6-1, 2-0) was led by Lily Moretti with 15 points on five 3s.

Woodstock North 53, Harvard 21: At Woodstock, Abby Hartmann led the Thunder (4-3, 1-0) with 15 points in the KRC win. Harvard fell to 5-3 and 0-1 in the KRC.

Woodstock 47, Richmond-Burton 13: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks (1-6, 1-0) earned their first win of the season in the KRC opener for both teams. Emma Brand had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Erin Lockwood had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

R-B fell to 2-4 and 0-1.

Huntley 42, Cary-Grove 36: At Huntley, the Red Raiders (3-3, 1-1) beat the Trojans (3-3, 0-2) in FVC play.

Dundee-Crown 63, Prairie Ridge 33: At Crystal Lake, the Chargers (6-0, 2-0) stayed undefeated with an FVC win over the Wolves (2-5, 0-2).

Joliet Catholic 60, Marian Central 55: At Joliet, the Hurricanes (2-6, 0-1) dropped their East Suburban Catholic Conference opener to the Hilltoppers.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Richmond-Burton 49, Williams Bay 47: At Williams Bay, Wisconsin, Payton May hit two free throws with 12.7 seconds left to give the Rockets (2-3) their first lead in the nonconference win. May finished with a game-high 12 points.

Nick Legnaioli had 10 points, Tyler Anderson had nine, and Jacob Barthel had seven.

Badger 51, Woodstock 49: At Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Gaven Conatser had 11 points to lead the Blue Streaks (1-4) in the nonconference loss. Javi Garay scored 10 points, and Nathan Archambeau had nine.

WRESTLING

Jacobs 43, McHenry 27: At McHenry, James Wright (106 pounds), Jake Harrier (138), Ryan Golnick (220) and Antonio Carlos (285) had pins for the Eagles in the FVC dual win. Joel Ridle (132) won by major decision, 14-0, and Tanner Ward (120) Vince Ducato (160) and Chris Ackerman (170) each won by decision for Jacobs.

Nolan Carlson (113), Brody Hallin (152) and Aidan Ferguson (195) recorded pins for McHenry. Ruben Melgarejo (145) won by decision.

Dundee-Crown 41, Prairie Ridge 28: At Carpentersville, the Chargers won five matches by forfeit in the FVC dual victory. Matt Impastato (120), Amairie Jones (126) and Cruz Sanchez (145) earned wins for D-C.

Tyler Evans (106), Ryan Koelblinger (113), Jack Stone (132), Eddie Ferree (138), Tommy Evans (182) and Kyle Koelblinger (195) won for the Wolves.

Huntley 54, Cary-Grove 13: At Cary, the Red Raiders moved to 2-0 in the FVC with a dual victory against the Trojans. Huntley has won 34 consecutive FVC duals.

Huntley 83, Dundee-Crown 0: At Huntley, the Raiders had 12 pins in an FVC-opening win over the Chargers.

Jake Jensen (113), Sam Henkle (120), Chris Le (126), Sam Spencer (132), Andrew Lira (138), Jeremy Jakowitsch (145), Rumyr Sobrepena (152), Jason Coleman (160), Rukkus Hunkins (170), Ryder Hunkins (195), Josh Cornett (220), and Matt Burba (285) each had pins for Huntley.

David Ferrante (182) won by technical fall, and Zack Rogala (106) won by decision.

Genoa-Kingston Triangular: At Genoa, Harvard went 2-0 with dual victories over Genoa-Kingston, 51-28, and Rock Falls, 49-19. Bryce Fiegel (120), Nik Jimenez (132), Brett Lovell (138) and Nathan Rojas (195) all went 2-0 for the Hornets.

Fiegel, Jimenez and Rojas each had two pins. Lovell won by technical fall and decision.

GIRLS BOWLING

DeKalb 2,398, Marengo 2,323: At Glo Bowl in Marengo, the Indians came up short by 75 pins in a loss to the Barbs. Olivia Pribyl led Marengo with a 518 series.

Woodstock 2,123, McHenry 1,959: At Raymond's Bowl in Johnsburg, Gosia Mucha bowled a 474 series, including a personal high of 203 in thie third game, to lead the Blue Streaks in the win.

Ceri Deacon had a 468 series and a high game of 184.
