Your Sister's Tomato food truck owners plan Woodstock restaurant opening

McHenry County residents can look forward to a familiar menu becoming available on a regular basis.

Lisa Foss and Tammy Hinchee, co-owners of the Your Sister’s Tomato food truck, are planning a grand opening of their restaurant Tuesday at 110 Irving Ave. in Woodstock.

The restaurant will offer classics that regular customers have come to expect, as well as new items, Foss said.

“We will definitely have all the pizzas and more,” she said. “For the most part on the truck people ask for pizza. We will start with a still simple menu, but we will have sandwiches, salads and desserts. It will be a simple menu but with good stuff on it.”

The business specializes in wood-fired pizza and has been operating out of a food truck for the past four years, Foss said.

“I’m so glad we went with the food truck first to get people trying the food and to get the food out there,” she said. “We were able to have thousands of people try the food for the past four years, so that has been a good learning experience to see what they like and how it went.”

Foss said she always has wanted to own a restaurant of her own and was happy to see her dreams and hard work come to fruition.

Your Sister’s Tomato will continue to operate the food truck in conjunction with the restaurant, she said.

“It’s definitely a journey,” she said. “To be good at stuff, you need a little bit of experience, and I know I work hard. It’s just finding your groove with it.”

Foss said the location of the restaurant in particular is special to her because she also runs her coaching company, Lisa Foss Basketball, out of the top floor of the building.

Foss is a former professional basketball player who is in the Northern Illinois University Hall of Fame.

“The building is so special to me because all my dreams had come true in it,” she said. “It’s a very neat thing for me.”
