High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Dec. 10

Dundee-Crown stayed perfect with a 56-44 win over Burlington Central in the teams' Fox Valley Conference girls basketball game Tuesday in Burlington.

The Chargers (7-0, 3-0 FVC) ended the game on a 9-0 run and were led by junior Alyssa Crenshaw with 13 points. Arysia Harris and Payton Schmidt both tossed in 10 apiece in the victory.

Elana Wells led all scorers with 20 points for the Rockets (6-2, 2-1). Kathryn Schmidt added 13.

Crystal Lake South 45, Cary-Grove 28: At Crystal Lake, Gaby Trier scored a game-high 11 points off the bench to lead the Gators (4-3, 3-0) to their third straight FVC victory. Brooke Kuffel had 10 points and 10 rebounds for South, and Emily Rich tossed in nine points.

Paige Hoscheit had eight points to lead C-G (4-4, 0-3). Lilliana Kurth had six points on two 3s.

McHenry 51, Huntley 45: At McHenry, the Warriors outscored the Red Raiders, 16-6, in the fourth quarter to pull out the FVC win. Ashley Wachter scored seven of her 12 points in the last eight minutes, finishing with two 3s.

Katie Beyer led McHenry (6-1, 2-1) with 14 points and Ava Interrante chipped in 13. Gracie Gasmann had nine points on three 3s. The Warriors made 15 of 18 free throws. Interrante knocked down all six of her attempts.

Kamsi Nwogu led Huntley (3-4, 1-2) with a game-high 18 points. Nicole Flaherty had seven points, and Ashley Guazzo had six points on two 3s.

Lake Zurich 56, Hampshire 51 (OT): At the Exam Jamm College Showcase in Lake Zurich, Alyssa Cork had a team-best 14 points and four 3s to lead the Whip-Purs (5-4) in the loss to the Bears.

Ceili Ramirez, Kelby Bannerman and Jacey Lambert added nine points apiece. Lake Zurich trailed Hampshire, 34-26, at halftime and outscored the Whips, 21-13, in the third and fourth quarters.

Alden-Hebron 50, Mooseheart 27: At Hebron, Rachel Pahl had 24 points and two 3-pointers for the Giants in a Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Kendra Cashmore had 14 points, and Abby Wanderer had 10 for A-H (3-6, 1-0).

Prairie Ridge 37, Crystal Lake Central 27: At Crystal Lake, the visiting Wolves (3-5, 1-2) earned their first FVC win. Central falls to 0-8 and 0-3 in the FVC.

Karsen Karlblom had 17 points and four 3s for Prairie Ridge, and Alana Mocchi had seven points and 13 rebounds. Paige Keller had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Central.

Gurnee Warren 41, Woodstock North 36: At Woodstock, Lacey Schaffter scored 15 points for the Thunder (5-4) in a nonconference loss. North trailed, 17-3, after the first quarter and cut the lead to three in the fourth.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marengo 84, Rockford Christian 78 (OT): At Marengo, Mike Volkening scored 37 points on 14 baskets to lead the Indians (6-1) to a nonconference win in overtime. Brady Cannon had 13 points and four 3s, Finn Schirmer had nine points, Evan Shepard added eight, and Jonah Pace had seven.

Volkening had one 3-pointer and made 8 of 11 free throws.

Woodstock North 64, Genoa-Kingston 48: At Genoa, Joe Chase had 20 points and two 3s for the Thunder (5-1) in the nonconference win. Cole Brey (15 points), Elijah Pena (nine points) and Javy Salas (eight points) each hit two 3s. Austin Zieman added seven points.

Mooseheart 67, Alden-Hebron 42: At Hebron, Mike Ellison had 25 points in an NAC loss for the Giants (1-3, 0-1). Parker Elswick tossed in nine points.

WRESTLING

Harvard 45, Byron 30: At Harvard, Ivan Rosas (120 pounds), Nik Jimenez (132), Brett Lovell (138), Bailey Livdahl (160), Eric Parra (170) and Nathan Rosas (195) each had pins for the Hornets.

Chase Bischke (145) won by decision.

BOYS SWIMMING

Woodstock North co-op 130, Elgin 40: At Woodstock, Gunner Dunnett and Quinn Cynor both won two individual events for North co-op, which took first in all 11 events.

Dunnett finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (54.12 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.91), and Cynor was first in the 500 free (4:50.71) and 200 IM (1:59.80). Aidan Teuber won the 50 free (23.69), Logan Lorr was first in the 200 free (1:56.57), Mason Mathews won the 100 backstroke (1:12.27) and Nick Phillips was first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.70).

Cynor, Dunnett, Phillips and Teuber won the 200 medley relay (1:42.75), Mathews, Jorge Aragon, Teuber and Lorr won the 200 free relay (1:40.73), and Cynor, Lorr, Phillips and Dunnett won the 400 free relay (3:28.11).

BOYS BOWLING

McHenry 3,605, Marengo, 3,320: At Glo Bowl in Marengo, Jacob McLean bowled a match-high 744 series for the Warriors (6-3) in the win. McLean recorded three of the four highest games with a 258, 253 and 233. Marengo's Chase Vogt led the Indians with a 638 series and high game of 237.

McHenry's Myles Glab had a 606 series and a high game of 232, Alex Szczepanik had a 587 series and a high game of 232, and Drew Lichter had a 586 series and a high game of 212. Marengo's J Mortimer rolled a 582 (220 high game), and Tim Scholl had a 570 (220 high game).

Woodstock 2,333, Westminster Christian 1,860: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, Austin Arndt rolled a 596 series and a high game of 215 to lead the Blue Streaks to a win.

Cole Lanci had a 450 series, and Jacob Piquette had a 438 series and a high game of 195.

GIRLS BOWLING

Grayslake Central 2,413, Johnsburg 1,937: At Raymond's Bowl in Johnsburg, Toria Blake had a high game of 177 for the Skyhawks in the loss.
