GENEVA – The Illinois Department of Transportation will be replacing a traffic signal mast arm 9 a.m. – weather permitting – Dec. 16 near the Starbucks on the northeast corner of State and Third streets, city officials announced in a news release.
All traffic signals at the downtown Geneva intersection will be flashing red during the project. Westbound State Street traffic will be restricted to one lane and possibly halted all together intermittently to allow for the removal and replacement of the mast arm, which extends over the roadway.
The state reported that the mast arm had failed an inspection and needed to be replaced.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic congestion, the release stated.
