During Tuesday night's Streator High School Board of Education meeting, Brian Hassett was not re-appointed as Streator head football coach next season via a non-vote.
In Hassett's five seasons, the Bulldogs were 15-31, including a 5-5 campaign and Class 5A playoff appearance in 2017. Last season Streator finished 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the Illinois Central Eight Conference.
Streator High Superintendent Matt Seaton said he couldn't comment on the decision because it is a staffing matter.
“On behalf of the board, I think they are looking forward to seeking out the next head football coach for the program," said Seaton. "We will begin immediately looking for someone to take the reigns on that.”
Assistant coach and offensive coordinator Pat DuMais was also not re-appointed, while the rest of the previous season’s staff was approved.
Streator's previous head football coach, Kirk Melody, was also relieved of his duties via a non-vote by the board after the 2014 season.
