Ruth Joan (Hoffmann) Catalanello, 91, of La Salle, passed away Dec. 20, 2019, at Heritage Healthcare Center, Peru.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Friday at St. Hya-cinth’s Church, La Salle with the Rev. Gregory Jarzombek, O.S.B. of St. Bede Abbey officiating. Pastor Dan Richardson of Apostolic Tabernacle, Spring Valley will also be participating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Spring Valley. Visitation will be 10-11:50 a.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home, La Salle.
Mrs. Catalanello was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Peru to Frank and Ethyl (Edwards) Hoffmann. She was raised in Ladd and then La Salle. She was a graduate of Hall High School, Spring Valley. She married Anton “Curly” Catalanello in 1948 in La Salle County.
Mrs. Catalanello was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Church, La Salle. She worked at Westclox and St. Margaret’s Hospital. She enjoyed dancing and music, especially playing piano and organ. She was a Chicago Cubs fan. She loved her family including her cats, Cali and Ginger and her dog, Scruffy.
Survivors include three sons, David (Angela), Ronald and Donald Catalanello all of La Salle; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Anton; two sons, Joseph and Kenneth Catalanello; her parents and her brother, Floyd Hoffmann.
Pallbearers will be her three sons; two grandsons, Dylan and Tony Catalanello and Dino Capitani.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
