Richard Guerrini

Richard Louis Guerrini, 80, of Dalzell died at 6:17 p.m. Dec. 22, 2019, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Pray-ers for Richard will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Dalzell. The Rev. Patrick Fixsen will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Spring Valley. Visitation for Richard will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Barto Funeral Home, as well as 9-9:30 a.m. Friday.

He was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Spring Valley to Louis S. and Anna (Ugasco) Guerrini. He married Judith Ann Brower on April 28, 1962, in St. Francis Catholic Church, Quincy.

Richard was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church, Dalzell Rod & Gun Club and Ladd Moose. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1957 to 1960. He had worked at Bassick’s in Spring Valley for 20 years, Caterpillar for two years and then at Harper-Wyman for 21 years, retiring in 2003. He was a graduate of Hall High School in 1957 and then went to Chicago Technical Institute for four years of tool & die training.

He is survived by his wife, Judith of Dalzell; two daughters, Nina (Delbert) Thiemann of Sparks, Nev., and Anna (Mark) Rybarczyk of Dalzell; two sisters, Shirley Guerrini of Dalzell and Lois (Irv) Batten of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren, Nicole and Aaron Rybarczyk; and his beloved pet, Kayla, who will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin, in 2011.
