Prep roundup: H-BR falls, IC stays undefeated

The offensive prowess of Yorkville Christian proved too much for Hinckley-Big Rock on Thursday as the Royals fell, 98-45.

Carson Pickert scored nine to lead the Royals and Noah Badal and Richard Hintzche added seven each. Hunter Swanson and Riley Hogan each had a team-best four rebounds.

Yorkville Christian shot 18 of 35 from long range, including 5 for 7 for Christian Sovern (19 points), 4 for 9 for Micha Schnyders (33 points, nine assists), and 4 for 6 for Brayden Long (12 points, eight assists). Jade Schutt had 22 points and eight rebounds.

The Mustangs face Kaneland on Friday while the Royals play Coal City.

Indian Creek routs Putnam County: The Timberwolves were 72-41 winners in the opener of the Marseilles tournament.

Michael Lampson led the Timberwolves (9-0) with 20 points, with Cooper Larsen adding 19 and seven rebounds. Drew Gaston had 10 points and three steals, Tyler Swanson had eight points and Cam Russell had eight steals.

The No. 2 Timberwovles advance to face Flanagan-Cornell at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Sycamore falls to JC: The Spartans lost to Joliet Central, 47-42.

The Spartans fall into a consolation bracket and will face host Oswego East on Friday.

IC falls to Amboy: The Timberwolves lost to the host school, 59-30.

Indian Creek will play Marquette at 6 p.m. Friday.
