Joseph H. Anning

ROCK FALLS – Joseph H. Anning, age 89, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, with family members in Indiana as a result of a sudden heart aneurysm.

Joseph was born January 16, 1930, in Sterling, the son of Chester and Ruth (Eberhardt) Anning. He served for three years in the Korean conflict as Master Sergeant from 1950 through 1953. He was employed at the Sterling Post Office for his entire career. After his retirement, he continued to provide private tax preparation and independent insurance services to the local area until his final retirement in 2012. He was an active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, having served as a lecture and Eucharistic minister for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Loreta Huebsch of Rock Falls; son, John M. (Karen) Anning of Dixon; daughter, Julie M. Anning of Brooksville, Florida; grandsons Josh (Kim) Westfall of Virginia and Drake Anning of Rock Falls; granddaughter, Heather (Terry Cushing) Anning of Rock Falls; great-granddaughter, Haley Anning of Rock Falls; great-grandchildren Declan and Olivia Westfall; and several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his sisters, Marylane (Bill) Appenzeller and Ruth Anning; his first wife, Evelyn (Loughe) Anning, and son, James W. Anning of Rock Falls.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019, from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the church, with the Reverend Richard M. Russo, Celebrant, officiating. Burial will conclude with military honors at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.
