Prep roundup: Omodayo's big night helps Barbs split; Sycamore boys best Genoa-Kingston

DeKalb split its pool contests at the Boylan Reindeer Games Saturday, defeating Winnebago 65-60, and falling to Boylan 61-39.

Florence Omodayo scored 14 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter and Sanaa Finner added 18 in the vicory over Winnebago.

The Barbs are now 9-5.

Royals win bracket: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated Grant Park 42-26 to take the consolation bracket of the Earlville tournament.

Ashley Wackerlin posted 11 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and three asissts.

Tessa Prellberg led the Royals with 22 points and added eight rebounds. Morgan King posted seven assists.

The Royals are now 11-5.

Kaneland splits at Riverton: The Knights defeated Olympia 52-47 and lost to Tri City 41-19 at the Riverton Christmas Classic.

Kelsey Modaff's 18 points led the Knights in the victory and Delaney Sheehan added 10 points in the win.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Spartans clip Cogs: Sycamore grinded out a 47-42 victory over Genoa-Kingston in the seventh-place game of the Marengo tourney Saturday.

Grant McConkey scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half of the Spartans win. Xavier Gagnepain scored 10 and Lukas Overhaug added seven.

Jaylen Mullins scored 11, while Colin Nesler added 10, with eight points coming in the fourth.

Indian Creek to play for 'ship: The Timberwolves swamped Earlville 91-44 to earn a spot in the Marseilles tourney championship.

Drew Gaston scored 20 points and tallied six steals. Michael Lampson scored 17, and was joined by three other Timberwolves in double figured, including Jordan Wortman (13), Cooper Larsen (12), Brennen McNally (11) and Cam Russell (10).

Cogs comeback fails: Genoa-Kingston fell 72-61 to Round Lake at Marengo's tournament after trailing 27-8 in the first half.

Jaylen Mullins' 21 points were tops for the Cogs. Connor Schwictenberg added 16 points.
