LOMBARD – Erin Golden didn't need to be told when she scored her 1,000th career point Monday.
The signs showed her.
Golden, Batavia's senior guard, became the seventh girl in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone in the Bulldogs' 48-23 loss to Fremd at the Montini Christmas Tournament.
Golden, who needed 12 points Monday to reach 1,000, made it on a layup in the third quarter.
"My team when that happened held up little posters that they had and parents had posters," said Golden, a McKendree recruit. "It was fun."
Golden put herself within striking distance of the achievement by scoring 27 points Saturday in Batavia's 50-46 win over Huntley. She said she considered the achievement her first couple years at Batavia. It became more of a reality her junior season.
Golden through 14 games this season is averaging 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game, all tops on Batavia.
"It feels like a very good achievement," Golden said. "It shows how much my team has helped me throughout the years."
The Bulldogs (4-10) went 1-3 at the always-tough Montini tournament. They lost to eventual tournament champ Evanston in the first round and Lake Zurich on Friday before bouncing back to beat Huntley.
They're back in action Saturday at Wheaton Warrenville South.
"We had some tough competition almost every game," Golden said. "I thought our team fought really well. We came out with a lot of energy, even in the early games. We proved ourselves throughout some games. The main thing I'd say we need to do is become more calm in hectic situations."
