William Kowalski Sr.

William G. Kowalski Sr., 74, of La Salle passed away Jan. 2, 2020, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

A prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mueller Funeral Home, Peru, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Valentine’s Church, Peru, with Monsignor Richard Soseman, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Mr. Kowalski was born April 16, 1945, in Spring Valley to William L. and Ann (Krogulski) Kowalski. He married Carol Jean Jakubiak on Sept. 10, 1977, in Spring Valley.

Mr. Kowalski worked as an ironworker with Local 386, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Joliet Local 444 and the West End Gun Club. William was avid fisherman and hunter and loved to follow the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, Edward T. (Dena) Kowalski of Spring Valley and William G. (Kelli) Kowalski Jr. of La Salle; four grandchildren, Kyle, Callie, Lanie and Carlie Kowalski; one sister, Mary (Robert) Medvetz of Hoosick, N.Y.; and one brother, Donald Kowalski of Rockford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louise Guerini.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
