Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital managing patient visitors to reduce flu exposure

Patients only allowed 2 visitors at a time to protect other patients, employees from virus

GENEVA – Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital is implementing a visitor management plan that could help reduce flu exposure for patients and hospital employees. Kane County has seen an increase in flu cases recently, and the hospital is taking these steps to reduce spread of the virus.

No one under age 18 will be allowed to visit patients in the hospital, and patients will only be allowed to have two visitors at a time. If visitors have flu-like symptoms, they're asked to stay out of the hospital.

Other flu prevention measures include cleaning hands before and after visiting patients, and wearing masks that are available at kiosks around the hospital. Visitors are asked to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and properly disposing of it.
