James J. Flaherty, 61, a lifelong resident of Tiskilwa, passed away Jan. 10, 2020, in Aperion Care, Princeton.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tiskilwa. The Rev. Daniel Gifford and Deacon John Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tiskilwa, with military rites accorded by Princeton Veterans Group.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today in Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton.
He was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Princeton, the son of Francis and Jane (Miller) Flaherty.
He graduated from Tiskilwa High School with the class of 1977. He was a member of the Central Laborer Union. Prior to joining the union he worked as a supply and accounting analyst of the U.S. Navy and served in Operation Desert Storm.
Jim was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tiskilwa.
Survivors are one sister, Norine Flaherty of Chicago; two brothers, Robert (Sue) Flaherty of Osprey, Fla. and Dr. Joseph Flaherty of Miami Beach, Fla.; one sister-in law, Martha Flaherty of Princeton; and three nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert.
Memorials may be directed to Friends of Strays or the Tiskilwa Historical Society.
