John W. “Jack” Deery, 68 of Amboy died Jan. 12, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maytown, with the Rev. Randy Froenik officiating. Burial will follow at St Michael/Sandy Hill Cemetery. Following the burial a luncheon will be held at the Ellice Dinges Center in Sublette.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday in Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the church.
He was born April 18, 1951, in Dodgeville, Wis. the son of James and Mary Rose (McDermott) Deery. Jack married Cynthia Warnock on Feb. 2, 1971, in Ottawa.
He was a supervisor at Motor Wheel in Mendota for 30 years and drove a truck for McLaughlin Farms. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed being a shade tree mechanic.
Jack is survived by his wife Cynthia; children Brian (Brenda) Deery of Sublette, Chad (Linsey) Deery of Ohio, Eric (Kimberly) Deery of Dixon; three grandchildren, Maddilyn, Bryson and Cole. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Dan) Clowers of Clay City, and his special furry friend Si.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Jeffrey Allen Deery, his guardian angel Ruby Jensen and special friend Ben Nelson.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
