Cynthia R. ‘Cindy’ McCoy

AMBOY – Cynthia R. “Cindy” McCoy age 58 of Amboy died Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

She was born Nov. 26, 1961 in Mendota, IL the daughter of Donald and Sandra (Friel) Schamberger. Cindy married Dennis McCoy Jan. 27, 1978 in Dixon. She had worked at First Federal Savings, was a teacher’s aid at Amboy Central School, and also worked at the Jack Mabley Center in Dixon and the First National Bank in Amboy. Most recently she had owned and operated the Countryside Tap in Sublette. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy and enjoyed swimming at the YMCA in Dixon and doing yard work. Cindy also coached softball and was a “super grandmother” to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister Bonnie Sue Gorzny. Cindy is survived by her husband Dennis, children Tony (Katie Wetzell) McCoy of Morrison, Emily (Michael) O’Malley of Amboy, Mitch (Katrina) McCoy of Princeton, 9 grandchildren Dalton McCoy, Mason McCoy, Abby O’Malley, Madison O’Malley, Collin O’Malley, Myla McCoy, Makaylee McCoy, Mairyn McCoy and Maxton McCoy; her mother Sandy Schamberger of Amboy, two sisters Cheryl (Steven) Prendergast of Dixon and Gaylene (Donnie) Noble of Amboy, brothers Rick (Joyce) Schamberger of Amboy and Randy (Angel) Schamberger of Eldena and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. Richard Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Maytown with a luncheon following the burial at the Amboy Community Center. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Amboy Community Center 280 W. Wasson Rd. Amboy, IL with the Rosary at 8 p.m. A memorial has been established.
