High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Jan. 21

Marengo’s Jennifer Heinberg scored 32 of the Indians’ 50 points in a 50-38 Kishwaukee River Conference victory over Woodstock on Tuesday in Woodstock.

Heinberg scored 11 field goals, making five 3-pointers. She also went 5 of 5 from the free-throw line.

Kierra Morris scored eight points for the Indians (14-8, 4-1). Gracie Gentleman and Alexis Kunde each added four points.

Woodstock’s Erin Lockwood scored 13 points. Emma Brand scored 11, and Theresa Presisto added 10 for the Blue Streaks (6-14, 2-3).

Johnsburg 42, Harvard 24: At Harvard, Sarah Metze scored 13 points for Johnsburg in a KRC win. Lauren Hendrixson and Molly Wetzel each scored seven points for the Skyhawks (11-12, 3-2).

Harvard drops to 10-13 and 0-5 in the KRC.

Marist 56, Marian Central 32: At Woodstock, Marian's Janelle Allen scored nine points in an East Suburban Catholic Conference loss. Julia Hogel added seven points for the Hurricanes (8-15, 0-3).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marengo 51, Genoa-Kingston 41: At Genoa, Matt Volkening scored 25 points for the Indians (16-2) in a nonconference road victory. Volkening made eight field goals, including two 3-pointers. Evan Shepard scored nine points.

Grant 47, McHenry 35: At Fox Lake, Brett Loeding scored 17 points for the Warriors (3-15) in a nonconference loss. Loeding made three 3-pointers. Carter Foat added eight points.

Westminster Christian 67, Alden-Hebron 40: At Elgin, Tyler Cunningham scored 12 points for A-H in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss. Mikey Ellison scored 11 points, and Justin Gritmacker added eight points for the Giants (3-12, 0-5).

GIRLS BOWLING

Huntley 2,534, St. Charles East 1,550: At Funway in Batavia, Rachel Pepke bowled a 550 series to lead Huntley to a victory. Abby Matula bowled a 538, Cassie Lugo rolled a 500, Gen Porsche had a 487, Jen Spielman contributed a 459, and Lindsay Spring added a 382.
