Rozella M. Sorenson

STERLING – Rozella Marlene Sorenson, 88, of Sterling, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, January 23, 2020, at Rock River Hospice & Home.

Rozella was born on November 16, 1931, the daughter of P.E. and Marie (Wright) Morley.

Rozella and her husband, Arrie owned and operated Moonlight Bay Marina for many years. She previously held the Senior Regent position at Sterling Moose Lodge #726, and was a Girl Scout troop leader. Rozella was also Town Chairman for the Green Hills Girl Scout Council and led a troop based out of the YMCA. She was an avid bowler and participated in many local leagues. Rozella enjoyed the arts, attending shows and creating many beautiful paintings. She and Arrie also enjoyed traveling and taking trips together.

Survivors include her children, Linda Martin, Steve Alexander, Dennis (Terri) Alexander, Wende Slusser, Cheryle Riley, and Brian Sorenson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her loving cat, Pest.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arrie Sorenson.

Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Lee County Animal Shelter or Rock River Hospice & Home.
