Roger Pletsch

Roger Allen Pletsch, 78, of McNabb passed away peacefully at 1:19 p.m. Jan. 23, 2020, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, surrounded by his loving family.

Fun-eral services will be at 10 a.m. Thurs-day in Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Bob Rehn and Austin Pletsch will officiate, with interment to follow at Friends Cemetery, McNabb.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.

Roger was born Aug. 6, 1941, in Spring Valley to Frances (Allen) and Lewis Pletsch. They preceded him in death. Roger married Marilyn Mills on Sept. 2, 1961, in Magnolia. They were married for 58 years. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Tim Pletsch of Streator, Mike (Debbie) Pletsch of McNabb and Nancy (Doug) Martin of Peoria; siblings Ron (Dottie) Pletsch of Mt. Palatine, and Sharon (the late Ron) Johnson of Arizona; and six grandchildren, Amanda, Austin, Allie, Devin, Aaron, and Melissa.

Roger graduated from Magnolia-Swaney High School in 1959, and attended the University of Illinois. He was a crop adjuster for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co. as well as a salesman for DeKalb and Asgrow Seed Companies for many years. Roger was the current president of the McNabb Telephone Co., sat on the board for the McNabb Grain Company, as well as a member of the Magnolia-Wenona Masonic Lodge #0344.

Roger was a lifelong and passionate farmer, loyal to bettering his land. He was devoted to his family and instilled in them the same values — to love, to commit, and to grow. He enjoyed sports and was dedicated to supporting his children and grandchildren whenever they played. Roger was a kind and welcoming man, beloved by family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jim Mills, Bill Biggs, Austin Pletsch, Devin Pletsch, Jeff Rehn, and Bob Rehn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
