Dorothy Murphy, 97, of Peru passed away Jan. 27, 2020, at Heritage Health Care Center, Peru.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church, La Salle, with Pastor Brett Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Peru City Cem-etery.
Visit-ation will be held 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Ms. Murphy was born March 14, 1922, in Denver, Colo. to Lawrence Ross and Grace I. (Burkenshaw) Murphy. She moved to Kansas City, MO, attending school in Kansas City and graduating from Manuel High School. During World War II, Ms. Murphy worked in a defense plant that built B-25 bombers.
Ms. Murphy retired from Vendo after 22 years as a computer analyst and moved to La Salle in 1988. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, La Salle and a long time member of the chancel choir, served on various committees and was president of the United Methodist Women’s Group for several years. She was also a hospital volunteer and a member of the La Salle Federated Women serving as president for two years.
Ms. Murphy is survived by four grandchildren, Carrie Lee Simsheuser and Mike (Teresa) Grush, both of Kansas City, Mo., John (Margaret) Grush of Hennepin and Robert (Lisa) Grush of Spring Valley; 11 great-grandchildren, Stacia (TJ), Anthony (Peter), Erika (Scott), Mike, Cole, Travis, Cassie, Matthew, Jacob, Tyler (fiancé Tasha) and Jamy; and eight great-great grandchildren, Nicolas, Austin, Juliana, John, Sheldon, KayLynn, Jackson and Aiden.
She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Geraldine Grush-Redders; one grandson, James Grush; one great-granddaughter, Michelle Grush and her companion, Bill Rollo.
Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Mike, Cole, Travis, Matthew and Jacob Grush and great-great grandsons, Nicolas and Austin Diaz.
Memorials may be directed to the family for memorials to be established.
