Weight restrictions will be posted on two county roads

Restrictions on allowable gross vehicular weights take effect Feb. 3 on Garden Plain Road, which will allow 5 tons per axle in the westbound lane only, and on Freeport Road, where the maximum allowed is 11 tons. Both roads are in Whiteside County.

Depending upon the weather, the restrictions will be lifted on or before May 1, the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a news release Wednesday.
