Amy McMahon named Head of School at Rosary

AURORA – Rosary High School has announced that Amy McMahon has been appointed Head of School effective Jan. 30, according to a press release from the school.

McMahon has served as Rosary’s Assistant Principal / Dean of Students since July 2018.

Former Head of School Anthony Wilkinson is stepping down for personal reasons.

“Rosary is a better place because Tony served as our Head of School, and we offer our gratitude and our prayers for his future success,” stated Sister Rebecca Ann Gemma, OP, Prioress General of Rosary’s Member Board, and Travis Ketterman, chair of Rosary’s Governing Board, in the release.

“Ms. McMahon has proven to be an exceptional administrator in her time at Rosary, and we are excited and energized by her spirit and leadership skills,” stated Gemma and Ketterman.

Prior to her service at Rosary, McMahon worked for 16 years at the all-girls Willow Academy in Des Plaines, where she taught history and served as the Catholic high school’s athletic director. McMahon earned her undergraduate degree from St. Norbert College and her Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.

“While we recognize the challenges facing Rosary and all Catholic schools, we are encouraged, enthusiastic and energized by the selection of Amy McMahon as the Head of School,” stated Gemma and Ketterman.

McMahon accepted the appointment “with great joy and humility,” she stated. “Have dedicated my professional life to the empowerment of girls and women, and Rosary’s mission to “empower young women to achieve their greatest potential” resonates with me completely.

“As Head of School, I will strive to illuminate the ways in which the Rosary High School experience shapes young women who emerge confident, self-assured leaders with a unique understanding of their God-given talents,” she stated in the release.
