Lori Jean (McCoy) Cavazos

STERLING – Lori Jean (McCoy) Cavazos, age 59, of Sterling, died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Lori was born April 6, 1960 in Sterling, the daughter of Robert L. and Nancy L. (McWethy) McCoy. After working at CGH as a cardiology receptionist for 30 years, she answered her final call. The call was an offer she could not refuse, an appointment from which she will not be returning. This offer came with a huge bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time, including her parents. Upon her departure, her task box was perfectly clean. She accomplished the only two tasks that mattered most to her, loving her family and loving God.

She is survived by three daughters, Marci (Greg) Glasson of Texas, Amanda (Peter) Bittorf of N.Y. and Liz White of Sterling; three sisters, Sheryl Beien of Sterling, Wendy (Mike) Hoerth of Sterling and Tiffany Glenn of Aurora; one brother, Doug (Patty) McCoy of Joliet; and nine grandchildren, Lauren, Emma Kate, Claire, Louis, Joseph, Jack, Ava, Lucy and Maxwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Mary.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 5 – 7 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 4:30 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Avenue in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the CGH Health Foundation.
