Brooker gets second place at 1A regional

Connor Brooker of Putnam County-Hall wrestled to a second-place finish at the Plano 1A regional Saturday, Feb. 8.

He advances to the Oregon Sectional, beginning Friday, Feb. 14.

Brooker dropped the title match at 145, 4-3, to eighth-ranked Cael Schindlbeck of Sandwich in triple overtime. He pinned both Jose Castanda of Plano (1:37) and Isaiah Nunez of Somonauk (3:48) in his other matches.

Fourth-place alternates for Putnam County-Hall are Toby Harper (138), Denzel Sobin (152) and John Davis (195).
