ZZ Top Confirmed as first band for New Lenox Triple Play

ZZ Top will be one of the three bands playing New Lenox’s annual Triple Play summer concert series this year.

New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann confirmed the buzz that has been circulating on residents' social media after the rock band posted the July 3 concert date on its website.

Baldermann made the announcement at the village board’s meeting Monday night.

“Everyone knows that ZZ Top is coming which is all you need to sell the Triple Play,” Baldermann said.

The village is still working to finalize the other two bands for the Triple Play concert series. Normally, the village leaders would wait to have all three bands confirmed with concert dates before announcing any names, Baldermann said.

With more communities holding these events, pinning down bands has gotten increasingly difficult, so the village is pleased to book ZZ Top, Baldermann said later.

“People have been really excited,” Baldermann said. “We try to attain the highest level of entertainment every year, although it’s getting harder and harder.”

No other dates can be confirmed without finalizing the other two bands, he said.

Tickets for the event will be sold only through the village and will be restricted to New Lenox residents.
