More than 1,500 tickets for the inaugural Rise Up Music Fest in McHenry were sold within the first 10 minutes they were available on Wednesday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, that number had grown to 2,000.

The two-day musical event, organized by the RISE Up Foundation, is set for June 19 and 20 at Petersen Park in McHenry and will raise funds for a new splash pad in the city.

On June 20, the concert will be headlined by Brantley Gilbert and include the multiplatinum Grammy-winning Eli Young Band.

“We were hoping it was going to be this way,” said McHenry Mayor Wayne Jett, who serves as the director of the RISE Up Foundation. “McHenry steps up when it comes to stuff like this. It’s overwhelming to be honest with you.”

People are excited by the lineup, Jett said, and the splash pads are something the community wants to fund.

In addition to ticket sales, Jett said they have received more than $2,000 in donations for the splash pads.

“I’ve had people come to my office to give $500 checks,” Jett said.

Ticket prices are set to increase at 5 p.m. Thursday, anywhere from $5 to $10 depending on the ticket option.

Currently, presale prices are $40 for general admission tickets and $100 to $175 for VIP reserved seating.VIP pit tickets will be $150 to $200.

General admission attendees may bring their own chairs.

Tickets can be bought online at riseupfoundationmchenry.org.

Jett said he anticipates general admission tickets will sell out by the weekend.

“Those are the ones selling the fastest right now,” he said.
