A 24 year-old Harvard man was reported dead on scene after a pickup truck crashed into a pole Sunday morning in unincorporated Harvard, causing power outages for the area, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies, and Harvard Fire Protection District Personnel responded to the scene of a single vehicle traffic crash at 6:32 a.m. Sunday in the 19900 block of State Line Road in unincorporated Harvard.
Preliminary investigation, police said, indicated that the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling west on State Line Road and left the south side of the roadway, struck a ditch and then struck a utility pole resulting in a power outage for the area.
The driver of the Silverado, Javier Ocampo-Nova, was entrapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Javier was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the traffic crash, authorities said.
The roadway was closed to traffic for five hours. The sheriff's department would not divulge any information on the crash when contacted early Sunday and about noon but sent a full news release Sunday evening.
The traffic crash investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
