High school wrestling: Previewing Harvard vs. Coal City in Class 1A state quarterfinal

Here's a look at the Harvard vs. Coal City dual in the IHSA Class 1A state quarterfinals at 9 a.m. Saturday in Bloomington.

TOP MATCHUP

(Note: Dual lineups can and often do change. This matchup is not guaranteed.)

Should they both wrestle at 195, Harvard’s Nathan Rosas and Coal City’s Daniel Jezik would make for a high-powered match. Jezik won the state title at 195 on Saturday. Rosas took home a medal in fifth. They did not face each other during the individual state tournament.

QUOTABLE

Harvard coach David Schultz: “I want us to wrestle well. As long as we wrestle well, I’ll be OK with whatever the result is.”

DUAL TEAM HISTORY

Harvard won Class A state titles in 1983 and 1992. The Hornets last brought home a state trophy in 2000, when they finished third. Harvard was a state runner-up three times in 1987, 1988 and 1990. … Coal City has won nine state trophies, including six runner-up finishes, but has never won a state championship. According to records at IHSA.org, that is the most runner-up finishes by any program without a state championship.
