A judge set a $10 million bond for a Joliet man charged with gunning down two men inside an SUV on the city's south end.

Tommie McDonald, 41, was charged Thursday with four counts of first-degree murder, armed habitual criminal, possession of a weapon by felon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

McDonald was arrested by Joliet police in connection with the early Wednesday killing of Tracy Williams, 45, and Bernard Marble, 53, both of Joliet. Officers found Williams and Marble in an SUV on South Chicago Street near Fifth Avenue.

Will County Assistant State’s Attorney Stephanie Silkey asked for no bond in McDonald’s case, which would prevent his release from jail. Judge Brian Barrett instead set bond at $10 million.

McDonald was released from prison Feb. 5, 2019 after serving time for possession of a firearm by gang member, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

McDonald was smoking PCP when he called Williams for a ride, Silkey said. After Williams picked up McDonald, the two stopped at a gas station where Marble got in the vehicle, she said.

Police said an argument ensued and McDonald shot both Williams and Marble before fleeing. Silkey said McDonald left his work ID and cellphone in the car.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Marble died at AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center.

"McDonald made statements indicating his involvement in the shooting," police said. "The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene."
