Tip-off: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Convocation Center in DeKalb.
Records: NIU 17-12, 10-6 in Mid-American Conference; Toledo 15-14, 7-9
All-time series: Toledo leads the series 48-30, but NIU defeated the Rockets on the road on Feb. 4, 66-61.
Who to watch: Eugene German missed the first half of Saturday's loss to Western Michigan due to a suspension for a violation of team rules, but still managed to hoist 20 shots and score 23 in the second half of a losing, 72-69 effort. German scored 25 on an efficient 14 shots in the Huskies' win over the Rockets less than a month ago. He is also six points back (2,164) of Ohio's Paul Graham (2,170) for fifth on the all-time MAC scoring list. Toledo's Luke Knapke is coming off a 31-point, 9-rebound performance in a 68-63 win over Ball State Saturday.
The lowdown: The Rockets have won three consecutive games and are still scrapping for MAC tournament seeding. Toledo has not been going deep into its bench, as two players combined for a total of 26 bench minutes in the Rockets' win over Toledo. Four of its five starters played 37 minutes in the win. NIU can wrap up the three seed in the MAC Tournament with two consecutive wins.
Key to the game: If the Huskies can run the Rockets off the 3-point line — Toledo shoots a MAC-best 36.9% from beyond the arc — they'll be in good position to control the game at home.
