The principal at Taft Elementary School in Joliet has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Principal Carol Paul was put on leave Tuesday, according to Sandra Zalewski, a spokeswoman for Joliet Public Schools District 86.

Zalewski said Paul was put on leave pending an investigation but declined to disclose what the nature of the investigation was.

"We can't discuss personnel or student matters," Zalewski said.

Zalewski said District 86 administrators were conducting the investigation and that there was no timeline for when it would be completed.

She added there was "absolutely" no threat or danger to Taft students related to the investigation.

Shavon Pittman, an assistant principal at Hufford Junior High School in Joliet, is serving as the building administrator at Taft in Paul's absence.
