A new senior-living facility is opening in Crystal Lake, and residents are expected to start moving in as early as next month.
The Residences of Crystal Lake,
355 Station Drive, will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as other amenities such as a café, theater, meal programs, group activities and classes, according to the city.
It also includes laundry rooms, elevators and select handicapped-accessible units.
The 60-unit facility started leasing last week and is almost at capacity.
Crystal Lake City Planner Elizabeth Maxwell said the Residences is getting its final occupancy approvals for each unit.
This includes the city doing a final inspection on the interior. Any other inspections or work the city has to do will be minor, Maxwell said, such as looking at the final landscape or cleanup work when the weather allows for it.
“They’re moving right along,” she said. “The interior is in very good shape.”
Maxwell said people should start moving in to the Residences in April.
“They’re moving pretty quickly,” she said.
A grand opening is being planned for the end of May or beginning of June, once most people have moved in, Maxwell said.
The Residences is a facility for people age 55 and older. A one-bedroom apartment is going for about $820 a month, while a two-bedroom unit costs about $985. However, income and assets will be verified to determine whether a prospective resident is eligible for assistance. The project qualifies for Illinois Housing Development Authority tax credits.
The minimum income limit is two times the rent a month. The maximum gross income for one person is $37,440, two people is $42,780, three people $48,120 and four people $53,460.
As previously reported by the Northwest Herald, The Residences was approved by the Crystal Lake City Council in December 2018.
A representative of The Residences was not available for comment Friday.
